Privacy Policy — Sumtype

Sumtype is an Android keyboard that creates letters by adding six numeric values. Typing works without connecting to remote services.

What you type
Sumtype processes key taps and the current composing letter in memory to enter text into the app you choose. It does not keep a log of keystrokes, words or passwords, and does not send your text to the developer. When deleting a selection, it may temporarily read the selected text in the current input field. The receiving app handles the text under its own policies. Sumtype does not control that app's storage or Internet use.

Speed scores
Sumtype stores a personal top-ten ranking only on your device. Each score contains a timestamp, session duration and confirmed character count. WPM is calculated from those numbers: one standard word equals five characters, including spaces. No typed text, user name or device identifier is included. Sessions must last at least 30 seconds and contain 25 confirmed characters. Backspace outside composition subtracts one character from the count; text is not analyzed for accuracy.

Speed tracking and score saving are disabled in fields identified by Android as passwords, and fields requesting no personalized learning. The keyboard's letter preview is also hidden in these fields. This depends on the input type declared by the app you are typing in.

Storage, retention and deletion
Scores are stored in the app's private storage while they remain in the top ten, or until you delete them. You can remove all scores in Your high scores → Clear high scores, clear Sumtype's app data in Android settings, or uninstall the app. Scores are excluded from Android cloud backup and device transfer. The practice editor is not saved to disk; its text remains in memory until the screen is destroyed.

Network access and third parties
Sumtype does not request Internet permission. It contains no advertising, analytics, tracking SDKs or remote crash reporting. It does not sell or send data to third parties and does not require an account. It does not access contacts, location, camera, microphone or shared files.

External website
Tapping sumtype or the website link opens http://damianodecataldo.com/ in your external browser. Sumtype does not add typed text, speed scores or identifying query parameters to that URL. Your browser and the website may handle ordinary browsing data under their own policies. Visiting the website is separate from the keyboard's offline typing.
